Our guest in January of 2026 will be Dr Seri Robinson from Oregon State University, widely considered to be one of the most knowledgeable woodturners and scientists on spalted wood. Seri Robinson fell in love with spalting and woodturning in high school shop class, earned a bachelor’s degree in woodworking art and design, and a master’s and doctorate in wood science. Seri is an associate professor of renewable material anatomy at Oregon State University, where they teach turning, sculpture, and wood identification, and research spalting fungi and their effects on wood.
