About this event

Featured Presenter:  Kimberly Winkle

Kim is an artist and educator located in Cookeville TN. A native of Oklahoma, Kim is a maker who creates furniture and objects using wood and paint; her work displays a balance of form, color and surface pattern. Kim is a Professor and Director of the School of Art, Craft & Design at Tennessee Technological University. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Ceramics from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Fine Art in Furniture Design from San Diego State University.

More information on Kimberly can be found at: https://www.kimberlywinkle.com/

Note: for this meeting we will not be at our usual location but will be meeting at the Hillcrest Lodge.

You keep hearing of milk paint here and there, but you may have only a faint idea what it is and how to begin using it. During her demo, Kim will demystify milk paint with a depth of knowledge and experience rarely mastered by artists and woodturners.

Milk paint is one of the oldest paints in the world – actually found in cave paintings and King Tut’s tomb… but is still in use today! Don’t miss this opportunity to broaden your artistic horizons and boost your creativity with this eco-friendly medium!

Member Gallery: Members are encouraged to bring their woodturning creations to the monthly meeting where they will be photographed and you will receive a free wood raffle ticket. The photos are posted on our website and often included in the Newsletter.

Critique Corner: from 6:00 to 6:30 before club meetings bring your turned pieces and get personal feedback from a small team of qualified peers. How’s the finish? Form? Balance? Embellishment? Get new perspectives on aspects that are done well and what you might improve.

Wood Raffle: There is always a good selection of quality turning wood donated by Club members.
